Introduction to Cosmetic Analysis

About Course:

The course deals with the Basics of Cosmetics, Composition of Face Powder, Estimation of Constituents of Face Powder, Composition of Lipsticks and Ash Analysis, Composition of Deodorants and Antiperspirants and Estimation of Constituents of Deodorant and Antiperspirants. In this e-learning module audience will have common understandings of the Introduction of cosmetics, Essential properties of constituents of face powder, Essential Ingredients of the face powder, Reagents and method for estimation of Zinc, Calcium & Magnesium in Face Powder. The Introduction of Lipstick, Quality Requirements for Lipstick, Raw Materials for Lipsticks and Ash Analysis of Lipstick for borates and carbonates is also discussed. Furthermore, the Introduction of Deodorant and Antiperspirants, Functions of Deodorant and Antiperspirants, Typical formula of roll-on type deodorant as well as the methods of Estimation of Chlorides and Zinc present in Deodorant and Antiperspirants samples are also explained.

Dr. Pramod B. Thakur is a working as an assistant professor since February 2013 at Department of Chemistry, Mahatma Phule Arts, Science and Commerce College, Panvel, Dist-Raigad, affiliated to university of Mumbai.  He obtained his Ph.D. degree from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad in December 2015. He has qualified International level examinations like GRE, TOEFL as well as National level examinations CSIR-NET-LS, CSIR-NET-JRF, GATE. He is the recipient of ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ (JRF) and ‘Senior Research Fellowship’ (SRF) by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Human Resource Development Group, New Delhi. His area of research interest is in the field of Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Green Chemistry. He has published 23 research papers in peer reviewed research journals of high repute. He has also had 05 patents to his credit. Dr. Pramod B. Thakur has presented many research papers in National and International conference and delivered invited talks in National and State level events. He has been associated with different scientific societies and has actively participating in chemical education.
